Tree Triage

When you completely rejuvenate a landscape you will find problems; water, pests and this horrible tree damage.

It looks like the damage was done several seasons ago, but who knows. I was told that 3 large dogs where here a few years ago, that could do it; what a shame.

Below are photos of the burlap and how I attached it. Notice that the burlap is loss, not tight around the truck. This way air and light can get in, but it should keep it safe from weather. I used safety pins and garden string to hold it in place.
                           I am not sure is this will help, but I had  to do something.

Here is the a photo of the tree, quite lovely even with the limbs that prematurely turned fall color, stress. I will let you know has she does.

In the meantime, make sure you trees are healthy durning this drought. Keep the puppies fed and away from your tree bark.
