Topic #2 Indoor Plant Care: Dealing with Bugs

Indoor Plants
I have many plants that I move back and forth, inside in the winter and outside in the spring/summer. I love taking care of my zonal geraniums, herbs and tender blooming perennials during the winter months.

One of the issues you may face are bugs, small annoying bugs. These bugs don't bite or cause any issues, just annoy you. I bought this gerber daisy and that is when I started seeing the bugs.
There is an easy and safe way to take care of this issue, it's horticulture sand. You might also see it as organic sand. This is just large grain sand that has been treated to a long period of 140° temperature. The sand is clean of unwanted pests. Simply apply ½” to 1” on the top of the soil.

The sand will let water and air in, but won’t let the bugs out, simple and safe.

I also love the white color.

Be careful when watering to not create an opening that will let the bugs return. Another reason to use ice cubes to water.

Hope this helps!
